Old recipes are creating an innovative splash in the Midlands!
It’s so refreshing to see Kilbeggan Distillery recreating some of the old recipes.
The most recent addition to the range is a limited-edition Kilbeggan Single Pot Still Irish whiskey which is a glorious tribute to the traditional Irish pot still style. It has been exclusively matured in ex-Bourbon casks and is comprised of an interesting mash of unmalted barley, malted barley and 2.5% oats.
The mash bill was inspired by recipes used at the Kilbeggan Distillery in the late 1800’s. Oats were grown extensively in and around the region throughout the 19th century and were commonly used by distillers like the Locke family at Kilbeggan Distillery for filtration purposes.
The nose opens with a light and fruity tickle – where the palate is rich and creamy with some oak, vanilla and a nice balance of spice. You really can’t go wrong with the Kilbeggan Single Pot Still, it’s simply delicious!
This is the second limited release to be 100% distilled and matured at Kilbeggan Distillery since its restoration in 2010.
Another great Midlands Whiskey for our guests to savour during our Midlands Whiskey Tasting Experiences and is really is a stunning example of a true Irish single pot still.
