Set Sail On The Viking Whiskey Cruise this August Bank Holiday Weekend!
Treat yourself this August Bank Holiday weekend and join us on Sunday 4th August at 7pm for a Viking Whiskey Cruise! You will discover the fascinating history about Viking hoards, high kings, big battles and saintly scholars on the Viking Ship, while you will journey through a unique selection of Irish whiskeys from the Midland’s region!
Many islands on Lough Ree were once inhabited by monks and their whiskey treasures. In fact the world’s earliest documented account of ‘Uisce Beatha’ was recorded here in the Midlands in the Annals of Clonmacnoise in 1405. But like almost all the monastic establishments in Ireland, they were looted several times by the Vikings. On the tour, we will delve into the fascinating history of the Vikings from their arrival by river to Clonmacnoise in 842.
On arrival, you will enjoy a Viking Whiskey Cocktail. While we will sail north up to Lough Ree, you will fully discover the centuries-old tradition of whiskey production in the Midlands and compare four contrasting local Whiskeys with some food pairings, to discern their unique characteristics.
The tour offers a truly unique and memorable experience! Come and join us and uncover the secrets behind some of our local whiskey brands and why the vikings always get their share in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands! Book now here!
